The Quorum Project is a multidisciplinary web application, the result of work between numerous research groups at Université Laval and other Quebec research institutions, as well as partners from civil society and the new technologies sector such as tels que UnicornPowered et lg2. The platform allows Quebecers to take the pulse of their society in real time, to understand the mood and perceptions of public decision-makers, the media and general public opinion regarding current issues.
As a first issue, Quorum Project invites citizens to answer a short questionnaire in order to obtain a personalized profile on the management of the COVID-19 crisis. In addition to serving directly as a democratic tool for public decision-makers and journalists, the Quorum Project profile becomes an opportunity to compare ourselves to those who make the decisions that affect our daily lives.
Project Quorum is an initiative led by the Leadership Chair in Digital Social Science Education (CLESSN) at Laval University. The Chairholder of the CLESSN is Professor Yannick Dufresne. The CLESSN has devoted considerable effort during the year 2020 to obtain the strictest ethical approvals, as expected from an application that collects individual data. This allows it to guarantee the highest standards of privacy for its users.
